SFCave

"SFCave is one of the most addictive (and small) games for the Palm" - NTK

The Rules are simple: Navigate the ribbon through the cave. Click to make it go up; it falls down automatically. The further you get, the more points you score. Score as many points as you can.
Grandmaster's tip: To prevent RSI, master the space bar.

This tiny, tiny, simple game was originally only available on the PalmPilot (and the best version is still the PalmPilot version). We used to play this in the best parts of full school assemblies, and when we got a hiscore and the whole school cheered us on, it felt great. But now there is the Java version (it should have loaded by now) for whiling away those hours of non-contact study time in the library. There's also a 3D version called SFCave 2, but it just isn't as great.

Variations

So you're a grandmaster? Scored 3000 points? Try only going over the blocks, or only under the blocks. Have a mini tournament, with each of you only allowed one go to get the highest score you can. Pile on the pressure as fourteen friends gather around one screen and cheer you on as you perform breathtaking stunt after breathtaking stunt. The possibilities are endless!

Competition

Well, two, actually:

  1. Take the *cough* decompiled source code and make it larger, since 128 by 160 pixels is a little small these days.
  2. Imagine a way of creating a secure hi-score system. Cookies, javaServlets, and beatbars are the kind of tools you'll need to secure the board so that Jims not got more points than Adam's Lines.

Back after popular demand is the old school look, by the way.
