What is "Funny"?

You'll often hear people (probably teachers) saying the phrase "It isn't funny," usually after doing something unbelievably side splittingly amusing.

Study this WebDing carefully and see what you make of it. It IS art, you see.

Who are they to tell you what is or isn't funny? They have a point if it's really disrupting the lesson, but otherwise, they're just being bent. And anyway, why isn't comedy studied at school? Is it too much of a personal thing? You're either born with it or not? Well how about Art, which is a VERY similar subject? Surely artistic talent is just as individual as comedy, and besides, you don't actually need to be that great at art to study it. Studying comedy could be studying the comedy of others, working out why it is funny, or if you can even tell something like that. The sylLabus could be a cross between English, Art and Drama. Writing comedy is an extremely popular way to make a whole load of money nowadays, so why don't schools get themselves modernificatinized up and realise that jobs are being created in the entertainment area. Acting comedy perhaps takes a little bit more individual skill, but is equally, if not more, profitable as a career.

Some teachers may not think this site is funny, but rather taking advantage of a free medium to slag off their school. How wrong could they be...
