March - May 2000 News

And on and on and on and on and on.
22nd May 2000, 20:10

Having been busy celebrating over the last few weeks with the old /y2k crew, over their earlier 18th of May breakup, there are not as many new pages as as I had hoped, but no matter: No matter how amusing they could be, no matter how zen the insight they could provide, the melodious sound of Bucklé's voice is better just as our Last Day Assembly was better; the strident hecking of the head pales in comparison with the fact that our people rode out on chairs.

Downtime.

Yes. I know. We were down. Again. It happens. For a month. You get what you pay for. And no-one has paid anything. Ever. Sorry.

Well that was scarily familiar. We are back on new hardware and a new OS: fBSD4. The "f" is for fantastic, refering to the uptime we expect from here on in, in case you were wondering. We lost the search facililty, which will be back soon. Apart from that, everything should be running smoothly, apart from the new pages that haven't even been written yet. That's how good they are.

Yes. I know. We were down. Again. It happens. You get what you pay for. And no-one has paid anything. Ever. Sorry. It would appear that people are getting confused: most of Lab6 is in the Yearbook, and there are some other articles, under "Other 'Articles'", which you might also want to read. The best content is behind a password page, but if you knew the password you'd know to go to the Yearbook.

Anyway, having looked into Java IRC for #lewis we discovered that IE3 does not like java as much as it thinks it does. So no idling from school (not that "Internet Policy must be adhered to" matters, as long as we "r'spect the network"). The links page was updated, and theres been some more content to /~. Also, COTSE can supply all your anonymous-browsing-from-IFL needs, which is nice. As soon as cash funding becomes avaiLable, the wears will go into production (We are looking at just over £10, and this is dependant on orders) as well as some Blackpool summertime type T shirts. Those who know, kn0w.
R'spect.

Coots are water birds whose white head colouring give them the appearance of baldness.

Black and white.
Rich and poor.
Positive and negative.
Yes and no.
Left and right.
Lame and l33t.
Bucklé and BT.
Lab6 and up. Or updates.
At least, that was the case for a while back then. But now the ethernet card that fell out has been replaced (It may well be this which was causing problems before, so yay) and I have a working machine. As you probably noticed I have culled old news particles to the February News page, and all the free crap has been removed since it can be done inhouse now. At least, it will be once I figure out this mean looking counter script, so we will miss about 100 hits while I get it working. All this means pages load faster.

In the process of removing the crap code, I removed two pages which weren't worthy of Labbage, and made a few small additions here and there; look at the logo at the top of the page, for example, and the changes to the FAQ it caused. The Best of #Lewis page went passworded again. Massive updates to the wears section, such as a highly recommended Black Tie were delivered as promised for you to ogle at. But since nothing is going to made, who cares? Also, there were large amounts of new adverts. Seven, infact.

There's a monkey outside my window.

It would appear that there was, infact, a monkey. Outside JT`s window. This would seem to be the final step in the colonisation, but La Resistánce will continue. So French was usefull afterall. A more content-orientated and less rambling update is overly due, but the lack of a working machine means I have to blag online when I can.
